Volkswagen has announced their newest SUV model, the Atlas, and it’s due to hit showroom floors in May 2017. Volkswagen has a lot to prove to consumers but with crossovers becoming increasingly sought after by families, the Atlas has the chance to change the game for VW.
The Volkswagen Atlas comes with an abundance of new features, including a new third row seat, which hasn’t been seen in any Volkswagen models since the VW EuroVan. With the new third row feature, Volkswagen has re-imagined the simplicity of gaining access to the third row, as well as kept every man, women, and child in mind when creating the space. The second row seating features a lever that slides and moves the seating forward, no longer requiring patrons to remove empty car seats before gaining access to the third row.
The new and improved dashboard of the Atlas features a 12.3” information display that shows estimated fuel consumption, driver assistance technology, and your speed. Along with the new dashboard features, there is also a new 8” touchscreen display, selectable driving modes, pedestrian monitoring, front assistant, and blind spot assist.
The 8-speed automatic comes in a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder and a 3.6L V6, with an output between 235 hp and 276 hp, respectively. The crossover will definitely be a family friendly option and is in line with the Toyota Highlander and the Ford Explorer, price and size wise.
