Timing Belt Replacement Services
This replacement typically happens during the 60,000 to 100,000 mile range. That being said, once you are nearing the 90k mark, we highly recommend bringing in your vehicle to have your timing belt looked at. It’s much easier to replace the timing belt before it fails, as failure can often cause damage to other components of the engine, such as the valves and pistons within it. Timing belt failure will also cause your vehicle to shut down, and will leave you stranded and in need of a tow. With this in mind, it’s a good idea to be proactive about replacing your timing belt to avoid higher costs from secondary repairs and inconveniences that come from vehicle failure.
Timing Chain Replacement
Many of the vehicles we work on, such as Porsches, BMWs and Mercedes Benz use a chain rather than a belt. These have varying life cycles depending on when the vehicle was manufactured, but newer vehicles especially are known to have extremely durable timing chains that aren’t as likely to fail. Older vehicles of varying make might need their timing chains replaced every 60k miles. Each car is slightly different, so check the owner's manual, as well as with your local experts for more information on how to best service your vehicle.
